Pennsylvania Gaming Industry Achieves Record Revenues in March
Pennsylvania has become one of the shining stars in the competitive gaming industry. According to bookie pay per head sources, the latest revenue report of the Pennsylvania gaming industry shows a gross revenue of $53 million in March.
A closer look at the numbers shows that the sector is not just alive but booming. According to a report by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), the state’s massive gaming market—which includes traditional casinos, internet gambling, retail and online sports betting, VGTs, and fantasy sports—reached a record-breaking $554.6 million in March. This record-breaking sum destroys the previous record set by the state in December of last year, which stood at $534.2 million. It is an all-time monthly record.
While iGaming, online slots, and interactive table games were the mainstays of the state’s booming gaming business, every other vertical saw a decrease in gross gaming income, except retail slots, which saw a slight increase. The online slot machines brought in $135.5 million, a 29% increase from the same period last year, while the interactive table games brought in $53.1 million, a 31% increase from March of last year.
Pennsylvania Gaming Industry
Not far behind, oddsmakers collected over $45.6 million from gamblers last month, a 10% drop from the previous year. Online wagers placed during March Madness accounted for a substantial portion of these revenues. Thus, it is the right time for becoming a bookie in the state.
An impressive 7.6% improvement from March of the previous year was reflected in the year-over-year total of $554.6 million. Compared to pioneering Nevada and other commercial gambling jurisdictions, Pennsylvania’s March gaming victory would put it in second place, just behind New Jersey’s $526.6 million GGR.
Despite its continued growth in Pennsylvania and six other states with licensed online casinos, there has been no discernible increase in brick-and-mortar play from the proliferation of iGaming. Winnings at Pennsylvania’s 17 brick-and-mortar casinos earned about $313.1 million, a pitiful 0.6% increase over the previous year.
