Shohei Ohtani achieved a new milestone after he became the fastest player to join the 40-40 club. His two-out grand slam in the ninth frame was his 40th homerun in the season. Also, he stole his 40th base earlier in the game. In addition, he helped the Los Angeles Dodgers win the game against the Tampa Bay Rays 7-3.
Ohtani accomplished the feat in just 126 games, the 129th game for the team. He became the sixth player in major league history to reach 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a season, the quickest player ever. Being the first player for the Dodgers to accomplish this feat is quite an achievement.

Ohtani joins a select group of players, including Soriano, who have achieved 40-40 club status like Ronald Acuña Jr. Other exclusive club members include Alex Rodriguez, Jose Canseco, and Barry Bonds. Acuña owns the stolen base record with 73 last year and got 41 home runs. It was Ohtani’s first walk-off homer and third grand slam. It’s Ohtani’s third season with 40 or more homers, achieving the mark with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021 and 2023.
